Pneumatics for fluid dosing
3rd Quarter 2015
Pneumatic systems & components
Three technologies have dominated industrial automation since the ‘70s: pneumatics, electromechanics and hydraulics. The choice of the right technology is guided by parameters such as performance, cost, ease of use and assembly, safety and flexibility.
Hydraulic technology is used when very high forces are necessary, while electromechanical technology is used mainly in applications that require accurate motion profiles, precise positioning and flexible and programmable automation systems. Pneumatic power is generally chosen for its simplicity, high dynamics, medium to high forces and low cost. This is usually the best choice for automation in operating conditions that are affected by vibrations, extreme temperatures, humidity, electromagnetic radiation and explosive environments. The benefits find application in automation solutions of varying complexity in virtually every industrial sector.
The evolution of pneumatic technology has led to progress in areas such as fluid dosing. Applications range from lubrication to resins dosing to filling processes in the food industry to automatic gluing systems. In all these applications it is crucial to deliver small, precise deposits of fluids at a specified point.
To meet this need, Italian automation specialist, Camozzi has drawn on its expertise in this field to develop the K8MDC micro-dosing valve, which is available in voltages of 6, 12 and 24 V DC. The innovative design of the K8MDC metering valve features a dispensing nozzle (inner diameter from 0,5 to 1,8 mm), which allows a uniform deposit of fluid and can either drop, jet, spray or dispense. It allows fast application and can control a wide range of low and medium viscosity fluids, including solvents, lubricants, reagents, glue and water.
