Variable speed compressor for BAT Kenya

Ingersoll Rand recently supplied British American Tobacco (BAT) Kenya with an oil-free rotary screw compressor through its Kenyan distributor, Car & General. The compressor will supply compressed air for the pneumatic controls and plant machines within the plant. This will meet the plant’s pneumatic requirements with maximum energy savings. In addition to the energy-on-demand variable speed compressors, an Energy Recovery System (ERS) was installed which will recover the heat generated by the compressor and distribute it to different areas of the factory where needed. Water heated during the cooling of the compressor will be re-used as process water. The compressor requires minimal maintenance, further reducing the plant’s opex.

The latest installation is the fifth oil-free compressor supplied by Ingersoll Rand to British American Tobacco Kenya.
