Robotics, motion control, vision and panel solution products from Omron were displayed at the food and drink technology (fdt) Africa 2016. Organised by Messe München (MMG) and its subsidiary Messe München South Africa, fdt Africa 2016 is a biennial trade fair and conference focused specifically on the food and beverage industry.
“Omron products are developed with a strong focus on meeting the ever-increasing needs and demands of the food and beverage industry,” commented Omron country general manager Victor Marques.
Marques, in conjunction with field application engineer Evert Jansen van Vuuren, delivered a case study in the ‘Latest Trends in Packaging for the Food Industry’ session at the Exhibitor Forum. This focused on Omron’s ongoing involvement with a leading packaging and machine-building specialist. Van Vuuren elaborated how the Omron Delta robot was used for this particular application, due mainly to its high speed pick and place functionality. Function blocks were designed specifically for a roll-on bottle packing line, where 340 bottles a minute are picked and placed.
“We provide tailored solutions from basic to high-end application needs in this particular market. We present decision makers in the food and beverage industry with innovative and cost effective solutions to their machine and production line needs,” explained Marques.
Latest developments showcased included Omron Adept robotic solutions and its ever expanding portfolio of Sysmac machine control solution offerings. “Omron places a major emphasis on R&D, always being a frontrunner with regard to cutting edge technology that meets the specific needs of various market segments,” stressed Marques.
Omron offers a range of vision inspection solutions to boost package quality and help maintain customer confidence in a brand.
