The SAFPA council has been working on providing accredited training in both hydraulics and pneumatics. This year members have been working towards this end with an accredited FET in Boksburg and the project is now in the startup phase. JFa2 is properly accredited with MerSETA to provide the technical training that is required by our industry.
The Level 2 course is now fully approved and commenced in September 2016 with the training of six students. These students will undergo five months of theoretical training at JFa2. Thereafter in the first quarter of 2017 these students will need to be placed into industry for seven months practical training in a workshop environment. Employment contracts for these short-term employees will be drawn up and managed by JFa2 in terms of the current legislation.
Level 3 training accreditation is currently being applied for and is expected to be received from MerSETA fairly soon. Once in hand, the next level of training will commence as soon as possible.
The SAFPA Council and JFa2 are therefore looking for member companies to partner in this education programme by providing the practical side of the training. JFa2 may contact you directly in this regard. Equipment requirements for Level 3 are being compiled and donations from member companies will be most welcome.
