The Garlock range of sealing products from BMG is designed for extreme operating conditions and meets stringent global quality and safety specifications.
Garlock’s Mill-Right extended service (ES) oil seals have improved abrasion resistance and greater temperature capabilities than standard or carboxylated nitrile materials. They are available in all Klozure oil seal models for shaft diameters from 76,2 to 2786 mm. Seal life decreases due to frictional wear caused by increased shaft speeds. The addition of lithium stearate aluminate to the proprietary Garlock Mill-Right compounds acts as a friction reducing anti-wear additive, resulting in extended service life. These seals provide three to five times the abrasion resistance of standard nitrile seals, resulting in longer seal life and reduced unscheduled downtime. As oil temperature increases, seal life is reduced. With standard nitrile seals, the increase in temperature from 93°C to 107°C can reduce seal life up to 50%, as the seal lip gets brittle and cracks. Mill-Right seals can withstand temperatures up to 176°C – a 40% increase in temperature capabilities over standard nitrile seals.
Single lip, spring-loaded Klozure oil seals types 53, 63 and 64 are ideal for most sealing applications in arduous operating conditions. They have an assembled design, with a stainless steel finger and steel case. Split Klozure lip seals types 23 and 26 are available in split or continuous versions and are intended for all applications where shaft seals with a metal case cannot be used.
The PS-SEAL series, with a sealing lip made from modified PTFE, is designed for rotating shafts with high peripheral speeds, high pressure and temperature fluctuations, as well as aggressive media. Conventional radial shaft seals with elastomer sealing lips are not suitable for these highly demanding applications.
Thermo-elastic sealing lips are highly elastic and flexible and because of their non-slip motion, there is very little friction and low wear.
