The patent-pending LoadMatch valves from Sun Hydraulics save energy by reducing unnecessary fuel consumption. Many machines operate at loads well below maximum capacity and LoadMatch valves automatically control their setting at reduced loads to minimise energy wasted during machine cycles at less than full loads. A test of Sun LoadMatch valves on a 195 kW Mi-Jack MJ 50C Travelift gantry crane used to load and unload shipping containers from trucks and rail cars lowered fuel consumption by 3,8 l/hr, a savings of R42 for every hour of operation.
Available in atmospherically vented, 3 port non-vented, or 4 port vented models, these self-setting, counterbalance valves also combine reverse-free flow, load and thermal relief in one package. The innovative LoadMatch control allows the setting of the valve to dynamically adjust in response to load pressure, while still providing a fixed thermal relief setting. The control creates a dynamic setting that is lower than the thermal relief setting, but is never more than necessary, thus providing safe, reliable load control.
Also, since the dynamic setting is lower than the thermal relief setting, the pilot pressure required to open the valve is typically lower than other load control valves with similar thermal relief settings. The check allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1), while a direct acting pilot function self-adjusts to set at approximately 1,3 times the load induced pressure up to the thermal relief setting. The maximum intermittent operating pressure is 420 bar.
