The new pilot operated, high capacity electro-proportional throttle valve from Sun Hydraulics expands the company’s growing family of electrically actuated screw-in cartridges and contributes to its ever-expanding flow control product offering.
Model FPHK is available with capacities of either 160 or 240 l/min. This single-part valve is available in normally closed configuration and has a leakage rated at 10 drops/min. It is designed for fast system integration with Sun embedded electronic controllers. It incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimise the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and cavity or cartridge machining variations.
The valve comes with reverse free flow check. Energising the coil generates an opening force on the pilot stage which vents the main stage poppet to open proportionally. Metered flow is from port 1 to port 2 with reverse free flow from port 2 to port 1.
Capable of operating at pressures up to 350 bar, the cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. The momentary/twist override option allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise by 90 degrees. Coils are interchangeable with Sun’s other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.

Those working with hydraulic or pneumatic systems know that keeping your machinery running at peak performance balances productivity and cost. As systems age, they often become less efficient, requiring more energy and more frequent repairs. The good news is that you don’t always need to invest in an entirely new machine to solve these problems.
