Innovative hydraulic tester
2nd Quarter 2016
Hydraulic systems & components
A new portable hydraulic tester that talks wirelessly to a mobile phone has been shortlisted as a finalist in the inaugural Motion Control Industry (MCI)
Awards for ‘Technical Innovation Of The Year’. Designed by Webtec, the hydraulic measurement and control specialist based in Cambridge, UK, the DHM4 was launched in April 2015. It is aimed at field service engineers in the mobile machinery industry for carrying out diagnostic testing and preventative maintenance.
The DHM4 differs from other portable hydraulic testers in that it not only allows the user to carry out a pump test on a mobile machine in the field, but also logs flow, pressure and temperature readings and allows the user to email the customer a test certificate within seconds, without having to return to the office. There is no need for a computer to analyse and print the results. Instead the tester pairs seamlessly with the user’s iPhone via low power Bluetooth using the free QuickCert App.
Webtec is a hydraulic measurement and control company that designs, manufactures and distributes a world-class range of hydraulic components and hydraulic test equipment for the mobile and industrial machinery markets. The company has over 50 years’ experience in the fluid power industry and specialises in high pressure control valves and flow measurement. It is privately owned and employs about 50 people in the UK, France, Hong Kong and North America.

Hydraulic systems & components
Those working with hydraulic or pneumatic systems know that keeping your machinery running at peak performance balances productivity and cost. As systems age, they often become less efficient, requiring more energy and more frequent repairs. The good news is that you don’t always need to invest in an entirely new machine to solve these problems.
