Sun is offering a new valve-mounted digital amplifier for its range of proportional products. The amplifier is easily programmed using a handheld programmer and infrared cable adapter. There is no cover to remove, no potentiometers to adjust, and no oscilloscope to keep handy. Setting up the proportional valve, making adjustments, and monitoring parameters has been made far simpler.
The compact and lightweight handheld programmer allows the existing amplifier parameters to be displayed and/or changed. A sampling of these parameters include:
* Maximum Input and Output.
* Minimum Input and Output.
* Ramp Up.
* Ramp Down.
* Recommended Dither: 140 Hz.
When set-up, display or parameter adjustment is required, the infrared cable adapter snaps easily into the notches on the sides of the amplifier, even while the unit is under power.
The C1V Amplifier is a compact, low profile DIN mounted controller for use with proportional solenoid valves. The C1V provides current to a valve coil in proportion to an input signal. Bright LED indicators on the top of the unit provide an overview of the operating status. Once configured, the settings are stored in permanent memory within the unit. Technical features include:
* LED indication of status and output current.
* The C1V amplifier used with a 770-2** coil is rated at IP65.
* Selectable dither frequency up to 300 Hz including OFF. (Sun's recommended dither frequency is 140 Hz).
* Adjustable current limited output with short circuit protection.
* 5 V reference for potentiometer/joystick controls.
* Multiple modes for analog or 2-speed control.
* Programmable enable input.
* All input and output limits are independently adjustable.
* Adjustable ramp up and ramp down times, independently set.
* The pre-wired cable contains 18 AWG for PWR and Common, 22 AWG for Enable, Signal, GND and 5 V Ref. It meets AWM E54661 and AWM LL54185 standards. The cable is rated to 105°C and 300 V and has a braided shield with drain and a PVC jacket.
* Microprocessor controlled for consistent, reliable performance.
* The C1V amplifier is a constant current device. When a coil heats up the resistance goes up. As the resistance goes up, the current goes down. This device senses the resistance of the coil and changes the voltage accordingly to maintain a steady effective setting of the valve.
