Festo Control Techno Tour growing with Hannover

Fourth Quarter 2006 News & events

On the 5th anniversary of the Festo Control Techno Tour to Hannover Messe, the 2007 program will encompass 13 trade fairs, including MDA - Motion, Drive and Automation. This sector - one of the largest in the mechanical and plant engineering industry, power transmission and control - is experiencing strong growth globally, with a particular rise in demand for electric drive components.

Lifecycle management stands to play a key role at 2007s leading event for power transmission and fluid power, where the MDA will actively drive decisive topics applicable to the hydraulics and pneumatics world at present. Hannover Messe drew 5175 companies from 66 countries in 2006, with 155 000 visitors flowing through the exhibition centre. It is estimated that the fair as a whole generated around 4 million business contacts.

In 2007, the Festo Control Techno Tour aims once again to enhance learning, offer a unique networking experience, and allow customers and interested parties to observe technology in action and gain a better understanding of the pneumatics and automation arenas. At the same time, delegates will be exposed to German culture through sight-seeing and tours of German manufacturing plants.

Having recently experienced the Festo Techno Tour, Danie Wilkins from the CSIR in Pretoria says: "It was amazing to see, I really appreciated seeing the technology at the manufacturing plants, such as 18 micron holes being cut into a plate with such precision. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are involved with any control systems and you have the chance to go." Glen Alexander from Nolitha Electrical Construction in Cape Town echoed these sentiments. "It was a great trip and very informative, especially the Hannover Fair - that for me was the highlight."
