Genflex invests in 160 tonne swage machine

The demand for precision machinery that is suitable for swaging large type hydraulic fittings onto hydraulic hose in South Africa is becoming more frequent as the need for larger hose assemblies grows.
Genflex Hydraulics has invested R80 000 in a new 160 tonne forward thrust swage machine. The swage machine is able to crush to the larger bore sizes and is one of the biggest machines of its type manufactured in South Africa.
David Michelle, director, Genflex Hydraulics said: "In the past demand for these larger hose assemblies were in the minority, perhaps not even a quarter percent of the total demand for hose assemblies used in South Africa were of this bigger size. This trend is changing. With new mines coming on stream and larger earth moving equipment and mining machinery being developed, the requirement is increasing and Genflex is now well placed to service this need. This machine has a forward thrust on piston of 160 tonnes, which will crush down any hydraulic hose fittings onto the hydraulic hose with the highest working pressures."
According to the company, it is committed to investing in the latest technology in order to keep abreast of its customers' needs. This latest large bore swage machine puts Genflex in line to supply these larger hydraulic hose assemblies.
