A power generation corporation recently contracted Hytec Fluid Technology (HFT) to filter 40 000 l of turbine oil, cleaning the holding tank as well as the oil, and disposing of waste oil in an environmentally friendly manner.
"Not only were we able to filter this volume of oil, but we were able to complete the task in one week, which is fast even by international standards," enthuses HFT's Mark le Roux. "The project cost totalled just over R120 000, while the benefits to the client are almost immeasurable, considering the productivity issues involved, fluid quality and environmental concerns."
The project confirms the steady growth in business HFT has been experiencing with regard to hydraulic fluid maintenance. The company's in-house laboratory enables it to maximise the life of hydraulic equipment and minimise downtime through oil analysis and filtration.
The company also imports and distributes leading hydraulic fluid management products, from Hydac's breather filter and dehumidifier (BLT) to return line and suction boost filters, contamination sensors, water-in-oil detection systems and portable electronic data recorders.
