The new MPA multipin valve terminal modules from Festo have universal application in automation technology. With this new addition, multipin modules can be tailored to meet specific customer requirements.
Components of the Festo MPA valve terminal range
The benefits of using the multipin modules include cost and space savings; valve terminals that can be easily expanded and modified; and straightforward servicing with easy-to-replace valves.
The key to the modularity of the MPA series is its optimised design. The electrical links between the valve sub-bases now comprise circuit boards which can be combined together by means of plug connectors. This means that valve terminals can easily be equipped with up to 24 single-solenoid valves or 12 double-solenoid valves and can be expanded or modified as desired. This makes them well-suited for use in special machine construction.
The terminals are available in two ranges: MPA1 for a maximum flow rate of 360 l/min. and MPA2 valve with 700 l/min. The two can be combined on one valve terminal. This means that users do not need to be governed in their choice of valve model by the needs of the largest load device in their system but, rather can select valves one at a time to give precisely the performance which they actually need and at the same time can create a more compact valve terminal.
If different working pressures are required within the same installation, pressure supply plates and separating seals can be used to produce various pressure zones, even after the terminal has been installed. Vacuum zones can also be created. With large terminals, additional pressure supplies ensure that all components have sufficient air at all times.
The new valve terminals have all-metal valve bodies and sub-bases to offer a robust solution with a long service life. Despite this, they are compact and require little installation space.
Festo offers FACE (Festo Automation Configuration Engine), a free-of-charge order configurator, which facilitates the selection and configuration of valve terminals during project design phase. System designers can download 3D files and integrate them directly into their own designs.
