Schneider Electric has announced the début of Energy University, a vendor-neutral, online educational community that provides the fundamentals needed to implement successful energy efficient solutions.
The courses offered are designed to provide the necessary expertise to anyone involved in the decision-making, management, planning, design or construction of a space impacted by energy.
In view of Eskom’s recent 31,3% tariff hike, Schneider Electric South Africa MD, Patrick Gaonach points out that this launch is most opportune.
“Schneider Electric believes there is a significant opportunity for sustainable energy savings – up to 30% with the correct systematic approach – that is largely unaddressed by industry and consumers today. One of the issues is that, up to this point, training and education has not catered for the production of a ‘green’ or energy efficiency aware engineer.”
Energy University courses are product-agnostic and focus on the critical concepts and best practices necessary to achieve a high degree of energy management. Currently, eleven foundational courses are offered, covering such topics as:
* Energy efficiency fundamentals.
* The economics of energy efficiency.
* Alternative power generation technologies.
Each course can be completed in less than one hour and the ease of an online platform makes learning convenient and accessible from any Internet-ready computer.
“By providing users with commercial-free knowledge and expertise of various topics, Schneider Electric is assisting both businesses and people in understanding and embracing the basic principles and concepts of energy efficiency, enabling them to implement sustainable energy-efficient solutions that are both good for the environment and for their bottom line,” says Gaonach.
