The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Strategy (AMTS) is a Cabinet-approved national strategy of the Department of Science and Technology, managed by the CSIR. Implementation of the strategy is currently directed towards developing technologies required in strengthening the competitiveness of the South African manufacturing Industry.
In enabling the objectives of the strategy, the AMTS Implementation Unit invests in the development of technology platforms that increase current, and create new, competitive advantages, while strengthening relevant scarce skills and balancing technical knowledge acquired through research projects at academic institutions, along with practical experience to ensure optimum impact on industry.
Building and continuing smart partnerships between project participants and the broader industry network is of the utmost importance in ensuring the development and uptake of South African technologies in the global arena.
The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Strategy (AMTS) Implementation Unit is hosting the follow-up AMTS 2009 Project Symposium, and we invite you to be a part of this special event.
Date: 14 and 15 September 2009
Venue: Midrand Conference Centre
Time: 9:00 (programme to follow on registration)
The purpose of the project symposium is to:
* Create an information-sharing opportunity for AMTS projects to be showcased to stakeholders.
* Highlight the impact of the AMTS since its inception.
* Report on the progress of technical and HCD projects.
* Share information on the AMTS IU’s new strategic developments (Centres of Competence).
* Present project progress and successes to the AMTS network and encourage cooperation and learning.
* Exhibit technical work, through both presentations and posters.
* Generate new ideas.
