Re-usable nylon fittings banish brass

1st Quarter 2010 Pneumatic systems & components

Genflex Hydraulics has introduced a range of nylon quick connect tube fittings for use on pneumatic systems.

In many applications the new generation of nylon fittings has made the use of brass fittings obsolete because of the expense of the latter.

Once the hose has been cut to the correct length the assembler merely pushes the hose into the new quick connecting fitting. The hose can be removed by pulling back a small portion in the fitting mechanism – no nuts, no bolts, and no screwdrivers.

The nylon fittings are cheaper than their brass counterparts and Genflex claims that they cut assembly time by 95%. The re-usable fittings are approximately one third of the weight of equivalent brass fittings. A further enhancement is that all sizes incorporate a built-in mounting to enable the fitting to be bolted or secured. All screwed threads have a pre-applied PTFE seal, eliminating the need for white thread tape that can find its way into the valves and cylinders of pneumatic systems.

The operating temperature range is 6-60°C and the maximum working pressure is up to 15 bar.

Sizes currently in stock include 6,8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm. A 4 mm range is on order.
