SKF has launched an awareness campaign to highlight the importance of inspecting the CV joint when replacing the wheel-bearing on a vehicle.
Working closely with its OE and aftermarket customers, SKF has discovered that during a repair many vehicle technicians do not check the CV joint for wear or critical damage after separating it from the wheel bearing hub. This can be hazardous and costly for the customer.
SKF recommends that vehicle technicians always inspect the wheel-bearing, CV boot and driveshaft areas when changing the CV joint.
To heighten awareness of these problems, SKF has launched the www.clickskf.com website and is also placing awareness leaflets in relevant wheel bearing boxes.
The website features a striking graphic that highlights all parts associated with the driveline and wheel bearing as well as a range of useful statistics, case studies and sales tools that provide vehicle technicians with clear instructions.
SKF’s Driveline product manager, Daniele Trossi said, “SKF is committed to enhancing standards of technical competence in the aftermarket. Informing vehicle technicians of this new website and strategically positioning our awareness leaflets will not only highlight the importance of inspecting associated components but will also take people to the right information so they can do the best possible job for their customer.”
