Oil condition monitor

1st Quarter 2011 Hydraulic systems & components

The OCM 01 Oil Condition Monitor from Internormen Technology is a mobile measurement system which can quickly, simply and precisely monitor oil condition.

A laboratory in a suitcase

A broad on-line oil analysis measures contamination classes according to ISO 4406, SAE 45 and NAS 1638; dynamic viscosity; water content; optical particle count on foamed oils; and dielectricity. The analysis can also be performed in suction operation, for instance in tanks or in systems in pressure operation mode. The analysis of bottle samples is also possible without using additional equipment.

Early detection

The OCM 01 can analyse new mixtures, detect water in a system and pick up sealing wear. Calibrated in-line sensors give prompt information on particulate contamination and the ageing condition of a fluid. This enables timeous reaction to changes in hydraulic and lubricating systems before major failures can occur. This can also be of importance when assessing guarantee claims.

Typical applications are:

* Cyclic condition monitoring of hydraulic and lubrication systems, in particular large gearboxes with foamed oils in wind power plants, ships or steel works.

* Analysis and documentation of the new condition of a system before delivery or before starting up new systems or large gearboxes.

* Monitoring and documentation of fluid cleanliness during cleaning of newly produced hydraulic components at test stands.

Easy operation

Operation is simple. The user is guided stepwise by user-friendly software. After a proper set-up mode is selected, all measurements are conducted automatically. Data can be displayed and stored within the OCM 01, transferred to an external PC using Labview software, or saved on a USB flash drive. The robust housing can store the connecting hoses and various accessories.
