Blow away your static
2nd Quarter 2011
Pneumatic systems & components
Materials such as paper, plastic or textiles are normally electrically balanced but friction can disturb this balance, resulting in static charge. This can cause a variety of problems on a plant, including dust clinging to electronic assemblies, materials tearing or jamming, sheet feeding problems and hazardous sparks or shocks.
Exair has combined its engineered airflow products with ionisers to give a variety of systems with the ability to eliminate static charge quickly and over large distances. These shockless ionisers are electrically powered and produce a flow of positive and negative ions. The charged surface attracts the appropriate number of positive or negative ions from the ioniser and becomes neutral. They are ideal for hard to reach places or obstructed surfaces, product moving at high speeds and surfaces with an extremely high charge.
Laminar flow airstreams blow away contaminants and the charge that attracts them. Compressed air consumption and noise are minimised while the air force can be adjusted from a ‘breeze’ to a ‘blast’.
The Super Ion Air Knife uses the Super Air Knife (40:1 air amplification) to deliver a uniform sheet of ionised air effective up 6,1 m away.
The Super Ion Air Wipe clamps around a part and creates a ring of ionised air flow. It neutralises and cleans continuous moving surfaces.
The Ion Air Cannon uses the Super Air Amplifier (22:1 air amplification) to provide a focused conical airstream that is capable of removing charge up to 4,6 m away.
The Ion Air Gun uses the High Velocity Air Jet (5:1 air amplification) to provide a narrow beam of ionised airflow. This handheld static eliminator is rugged for industrial use and has very fast static decay rates.
The Ion Air Jet is an effective spot cleaner. Available for permanent mount or with flexible Stay Set Hose, this ioniser is ideal for focusing an ionised airflow on confined areas.

A guide for compressed air dryer selection
Artic Driers International
Pneumatic systems & components
Clean and dry compressed air is essential in today’s modern operating environment. Without an air dryer and filter bank in line, the downtime created by condensate can be substantial. However, there are issues about air dryer selection and the impact of geographic location that need careful consideration prior to placing an order.
