BMG’s extensive range of sealing products includes high quality branded gaskets which are designed for reliability, chemical and corrosion resistance, extended service life and easy installation.
They are used extensively in diverse industries, including chemical processing and petrochemicals, mining, refineries, power generation, pulp and paper, micro electronics, general engineering and transportation.
“The demands of modern engineering make the choice of the right sealing product an important consideration, both in the design of new equipment and in selecting products to replace those that are no longer suitable,” says Ken Steel, general manager of BMG’s Seals Division. “BMG’s range of gaskets, which is manufactured according to stringent quality controls, is designed for conformance to specifications and uniformity. This results in unvarying performance, even in demanding environments.”
The definition of a seal has changed dramatically over the years and leakage measurements have improved from drops per minute, to parts per million. The selection of the correct gasket for a specific sealing applicationrequires consideration of all variables present in a flanged connection. Traditionally, these were temperature, application, media and pressure. Today, factors such as flange metallurgy, bolt thread embedment, flange rotation, bolt stretch, additives to the media and the flange surface finish determine how well a gasket performs.
The success of a sealing installation is dependent on how efficiently the gasket seals the system fluid and its chemical and corrosion resistance to this fluid. It is critical that the gasket does not contaminate the system fluid. The gasket must deform sufficiently to flow into the imperfections on the gasket seating surfaces, providing an intimate contact between the gasket and the seating surfaces. It needs to withstand elevated system temperatures and have sufficient strength and creep resistance to cope efficiently with the applied load. All these qualities are inherent in BMG’s gaskets.
