Air treatment specialist, Artic Driers recently added new compressed air auditing and monitoring equipment to its comprehensive range of air quality products. With the acquisition of a new DS500 mobile system, Artic can now offer data logging for 12 sensors, simultaneously providing information from compressors, dryers, filters with 4-20 mA outputs, or further third party sensors with 4-20 mA outputs. Each station or system can have four or more sensors for flow, pressure and power. This ability is critical when analysing the installations of large compressed air users with multiple compressor stations.
The DS500 mobile intelligent data and chart recorder provides all the information required on a compressed air station or air system. This includes air flow, consumption, velocity and pressure; power; dew point at pressure or at atmospheric up to 350 bar; relative humidity; air temperature; differential pressure on filters; leak losses; and third party sensors with 4-20 mA outputs. Real-time data is recorded and displayed on a large 17,8 cm (7 in) colour touch screen, where the data history is viewed with the swipe of a finger. Reports giving costs and counter readings in cubic metres for each sensor are provided by this sophisticated system. They include a synopsis of the data collected along with multi-axis graphs.
Artic Driers now has the largest logging capacity in the country. Companies can either hire compressed air audit equipment together with a technician or purchase the equipment, allowing simultaneous logging on multiple stations at realistic rates.
“An investment in compressed air auditing is the fastest way to achieve power reduction targets and a more efficient compressed air system,” says Artic CEO, Allen Cockfield.

Clean and dry compressed air is essential in today’s modern operating environment. Without an air dryer and filter bank in line, the downtime created by condensate can be substantial. However, there are issues about air dryer selection and the impact of geographic location that need careful consideration prior to placing an order.
