A new line of valve banks

2nd Quarter 2014 Pneumatic systems & components

Pneumax Southern Africa recently introduced the cost-effective OPTYMA-S valve banks to its array of products. Manufactured from a high quality techno-polymer, they have exceptional performance, with high flow rates from very compact designs, low power consumption, LED indication lights and clean aesthetic designs

Reliability and robust design are proven with life ratings of over 50 million cycles. The OPTYMA – S valve manifold options include built-in one-touch fittings, pre-wired electric connections, I/O modules, fieldbus and serial interface to help simplify the installation, maintenance and control of pneumatic actuators and air motors.

The use of fieldbus technology is in line with the global trend towards de-centralised control. This disassembles the traditional centralised valve manifold into separate valve modules, sensor I/O modules and bus interface modules.

Each set of modules is part of a node that is connected by the serial interface or fieldbus cable back to the PC or PLC. This enables machine designers and system integrators the freedom to move control modules closer to actuators, cylinders or air motors, resulting in shorter tube runs, quicker operating times, easier diagnostics and installation savings of up to 40%. This concept is particularly well suited to assembly lines, conveyors and systems that employ valves at intervals and can be adapted to any industry application.

The true power of these valve systems lies in the choice, flexibility and control it gives the design engineer. The range supports a wide variety of communication and connection technologies including fieldbus protocols such as CAN Open, Device Net, Profibus DP and EtherCAT.
