In a joint venture with Hydraulic Training Consultants (HTC), Hydrastatic Sales & Service (HSS) has completed the installation and commissioning of four hydraulic power units and cylinders for the emergency evacuation door system on board an SAA A330 Airbus flight crew training simulator.
The actual A330 on-board system was not cost effective for use in a simulator training application and therefore a replacement system was required for this purpose. HSS & HTC re-engineered the existing system by replacing it with small, compact hydraulic power units and cylinders.
The new hydraulic system allows the flight crew to simulate an emergency evacuation door procedure during training, as would be experienced in a real life emergency. SAA simulator manager, Robby Larkan commented that the new hydraulic system has been a great success and was extremely cost effective to install.
