SKF is supplying General Motors (GM) with front and rear wheel hub bearing units for the new 2016 Cadillac CT6 prestige luxury sedan. The new hub bearing units, which were developed in partnership with GM, use an asymmetric raceway based on SKF’s X-Tracker technology. Their unique geometry contributes to higher corner stiffness, an agile suspension and a smoother ride – innovations that are essential attributes for a high performance vehicle that combines luxury and advanced technology with lightweight construction, to deliver a dynamic and safe driving experience.
An improved seal design reduces the probability of failure due to contamination, while simultaneously cutting friction, noise and vibration. This translates into higher reliability, a quieter ride, lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions. The seal has now become GM’s benchmark design for hub bearing units.
