Proportional regulators and valves
4th Quarter 2017
Pneumatic systems & components
In a pneumatic system it can be more economical to implement proportional control rather than resorting to expensive electric motors and drives, especially when the application involves the accurate movement of heavy loads.
Italian pneumatics specialist, Camozzi has a multi-technological approach and has bridged the gap between electric and pneumatic actuation using advanced proportional technology. There are three different products in the Camozzi range: the Series MX-PRO proportional pressure regulator, the Series ER digital proportional pressure regulator and the Series LR digital proportional servo valve.
To decide on the best product for the application, variables such as operating pressure, flow rate, type of control, accuracy and dynamic range need to be considered. Different pressure ranges are available for each of the products, while with the digital LR or ER, the full range can be set exactly as required.
The Series LR valve is the pressure version. This uses either its internal pressure transducer or an external transducer to monitor and regulate the outlet pressure, which is ideal for vacuum and pick-and-place applications. This patented 3-way valve with a rotating spool is also available in a flow or position version, tailored for different applications. The flow version provides open-loop control where the outlet flow is proportional to the reference signal. The position version can connect directly to a linear sensor to directly monitor and regulate the position of an actuator. With Camozzi’s Series 6PF position feedback cylinder, the system achieves actuation with linearity < 0,06 % FS and hysteresis < 0,1 % FS.

A guide for compressed air dryer selection
Artic Driers International
Pneumatic systems & components
Clean and dry compressed air is essential in today’s modern operating environment. Without an air dryer and filter bank in line, the downtime created by condensate can be substantial. However, there are issues about air dryer selection and the impact of geographic location that need careful consideration prior to placing an order.
