Artic Driers recently launched a new range of retrofit replacement inline compressed air filter elements that are compatible with casings from a wide range of global manufacturers. Manufactured in the United Kingdom, the elements provide filtration in accordance with ISO 8573 and are routinely subjected to the Dispersed Oil Particulate (DOP) test to ensure filter integrity and filtration, particle and oil retention conformity. The DOP test checks that all components of the filters – seals, housing, joints and filter media – are functioning correctly.
The elements produced are tested in accordance with ISO 12500. This standard specifies the test layout and test procedures required for testing coalescing filters used in compressed air systems to determine their effectiveness in removing oil aerosols. It also specifies the performance characteristics of the pressure drop and the capability of removing oil aerosols, as well as defining a method for determining filter performance as an outlet oil aerosol concentration stated in mg/m³ from results obtained under standard rating parameters.
Artic offers filter elements from its warehouse in Benoni to suit five popular manufacturers’ casings: Atlas Copco, Compare, Hiross, Domnick Hunter and Ingersoll Rand. These elements are manufactured by an independent company specialising in aftermarket retrofit replacement filter elements. Artic Driers researched the market and technical requirements for over a year prior to launching this new series of elements. There are over 45 brands of element available. The more popular ranges are kept in stock while other brands can be supplied in about eight working days from order placement.

Clean and dry compressed air is essential in today’s modern operating environment. Without an air dryer and filter bank in line, the downtime created by condensate can be substantial. However, there are issues about air dryer selection and the impact of geographic location that need careful consideration prior to placing an order.
