BMG Filtration, part of the Bearing Man Group, offers a range of filtration and separation systems from Pall.
Included are the Pall Vent Filter Dryers (PFDs), which prevent moisture and particles from entering vented fluid systems. They can be used in hydraulic fluid reservoirs, fuel tank systems and gear lube oil systems to prevent airborne contamination from damaging the fluid system. They reduce operating costs and improve system performance.
“PFDs ensure that only dry clean air enters the reservoir, resulting in a longer life for the system. The breathers are fitted with an exhaust check valve that prevents reverse flow through the filter dryer. This prevents contamination of the desiccant by oil vapour and extends the desiccant life,” says Anton van Deventer, product manager for BMG Filtration. “Advantages of the PFD breathers over conventional desiccant breathers include reduced moisture intake and extended life of the fluid. The dielectric strength of transformers is also maintained. They are also environmentally friendly in that the desiccant contains zero cobalt chloride.”
PFD breathers operate at temperatures between -54°C and +82°C dew point with a filtration rating of 1 micron in air, and air flow rates up to 195 l/min. The desiccant, which is recyclable, does not contain the carcinogenic cobalt chloride.
BMG Filtration also offers a technical advisory service about the recommended maximum air flow rates for each application.

Every engineer, machine designer and maintenance professional understands that the heart of any reliable hydraulic system is its fluid. But the moment that fluid is compromised, your system’s life expectancy and your peace of mind drop dramatically.
