SAFPA assessor training workshop

Fourth Quarter 2006 SAFPA

The Unit Standards specific to the Fluid Power Industry have been written and are in the final approval process with SAQA. The next step in the new outcomes-based education system is for learners, trainees and indeed anyone who wishes to obtain a qualification to apply to be assessed for competency against these Unit Standards.

Workers who may have been engaged in the industry for many years who have no formal qualification can also now apply to have their experience certified through a process of assessment to recognise prior learning (RPL).

For this, the industry needs to have assessors. Prospective assessors require to undergo formal training and then to submit a portfolio of evidence to attain accreditation as an assessor.

The SAFPA Council is organising a four day training workshop for assessors. The four days will be spread over two phases and the dates are as follows:

21-22 November

30 November–1 December

The cost of the workshop is R32 000 for 10 delegates. (ie, R3200 per delegate, provided there is a minimum of 10 delegates).
