At the forefront of predictive maintenance

4th Quarter 2010 Other technologies

Engineering Dynamics offers predictive and preventive maintenance through the supply of machine condition monitoring systems and services.

Online machine condition monitoring is available at three levels of integration: a cost effective monitoring solution for easy PLC integration; a monitoring and prevention solution with diagnostic capabilities; and a complete protection system with the capabilities of the first two solutions.

The company also has a range of products varying from vibration sensors and transmitters to connectors and cabling to signal conditioning devices.

The online vibration monitoring systems communicate vibration and temperature levels to control systems, allowing real-time machine condition information.

They are integrated seamlessly with the client’s onsite PLC or DCS system, thereby reducing maintenance issues. This provides engineers with critical data, allowing them to act proactively should there be an impending problem. Benefits include limited damage to machines, prevention of expensive downtime and extension of machine life.

“We are also excited about wireless technology, as it further enhances the possibility of remote data acquisition and analysis,” says Christo van der Walt, managing director of Engineering Dynamics.

Engineering Dynamics has worked with some of southern Africa’s best known corporations, examples being Eskom, Mittal Steel, Kumba Resources, Shell, Sapref, Caltex, Sasol, Dow, Nampak, Holcim, Karbochem, Foskor, Portnet, Sappi and Mondi.
