The SAFPA annual general meeting on 22 May 2025 was held online and was well attended, showcasing positive member engagement. Outgoing president Uven Moodley highlighted the association’s strong financial health and partnerships, notably with Ekurhuleni West TVET College, crucial for the 2030 National Apprentice and Artisan Development Strategy. He noted the success of eight online technical meetings and popular social events like golf, cycling, and soccer. The safety course is discontinued to avoid conflicts of interest. Social media participation is increasing, and members are encouraged to engage more. Moodley reminded members that SAFPA can accredit courses for CPD points as an ECSA-recognised voluntary association. Members can claim CPD accreditation by attending technical presentations, and companies seeking course accreditation by ECSA can get assistance from SAFPA.
The new SAFPA Council members are: Dustin Pereira, Ryno Landman, Pieter van der Westhuizen, Michael Abbott, Manny Vieira, Hannes Otto, Russell Gill and Riaan du Preez. A new president and vice president will be elected at the next council meeting.
Moodley thanked the council members for their support, SAFPA members for their contributions, and the secretariat for their assistance over the past two years.
