Generally the technical meetings held at Hudaco Park have been very successful; subjects covered were business technology and marine hydraulics.
The most recent technical talks also went off well. We were given a presentation by Keith Harebottle, Siemag Blanes, on 'Hydraulics on mine winders', and Jim Searle, Europower UK, gave us a presentation on 'T/L (ThreadLess) hydraulic fitting'.
Our next technical talk will take place on Thursday 27 May 2004, at Hudaco Park. The speaker will be Fritz Kern from Axiom Hydraulics, he will give us a demonstration on:
1. The use of the CAD program to design manifolds from a circuit diagram.
2. Introduction of software - background.
3. Draw a manifold from a diagram.
Example:
Hydrostatic transmission manifold
This would be interesting for anybody involved with manifold design and manufacture calculation, checking procedures, assembly and production drawings. Speakers on any subject matter that would be of interest to the industry are most welcome. Please advise the Secretariat.
Feedback on Merseta
Progress in this area has been disappointing during the last year. A group has been appointed to the Standards Generating Body for the Fluid Power Industry. The group has not been productive, as Merseta is unable to provide a SAQA accredited facilitator. SGG were to commence writing standards in October 2003, however, it appears that work will now only start later on this year.
Membership
SAFPA extends a warm welcome to our new members who have just signed up. It is important for the membership to grow in order to provide an effective and strong voice for the industry in dealing with the ever-increasing legislation and government bodies.
