As the year draws to a close I think it is important to take this opportunity to mention some tasks the SAFPA council has achieved and some it would still like to accomplish.

Accomplishments
* We have made great strides in the Fluid Power Qualification. NQF Levels 3, 4 and 5 have been registered and NQF Level 2 is in the process of being registered.
* During July we initiated the Hose Assembly Certification/Accreditation Scheme with various industry players participating.
* The council has secured the services of a specialist to assist us in obtaining customs duty relief on hydraulic hose.
* The SAFPA website has been updated.
* A new SAFPA Z-fold leaflet has been printed.
* An advertising campaign has been initiated to create greater awareness of SAFPA.
* During the year we have held various technical meetings, which were well attended.
Initiatives
We are also busy with various initiatives, which will be beneficial to our industry. These include:
* Our second Industry Market Survey, which is planned for early next year.
* The possibility of a Fluid Power Academy for the industry.
We will keep members up to date on the progress of these initiatives.
Thanks and best wishes
On behalf of the council I would like to thank Technews, the publishers of Motion Control, for an excellent publication and Cost Time Resources, our administrators, for the professional way they handle our affairs.
I would also like to thank each and every SAFPA council member for the time and effort they have put into the association.
On behalf of the SAFPA council I would like to take this opportunity to extend best wishes to all of you and your families for an enjoyable festive season and a prosperous New Year.
